Evening Canyon I

Corona Del Mar, CA

The Evening Canyon Residence advances the idea of indoor/outdoor living with its transformative design. Operable facades, natural light and layers of transparency help remove the physical barriers creating better connections to the outdoors while framing the protected views from the second level. The location of the site yields to an abundance of ocean and treetop views which increase as you elevate from level to level. The open floor plan of the second level allows for transparency beyond the dining and parlor, and through the great room over the restrained heights of the surrounding vegetation and homes.

Front Door

This home contains 5 bedroom suites, 2 powder rooms, an office, bonus room, gym, laundry, dining, parlor, great room, kitchen, butler’s pantry and various outdoor spaces.

Backyard

The living space opens up to the deck with disappearing doors and transforming walls. A rooftop deck was incorporated to take advantage of the better views provided by the higher elevation, and captures a 180° look of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, and the surrounding village of Corona del Mar.

Rear Overhang
Glass Floor

Situated on a glass floor, the baby grand piano is on display from all sides.

A manual crank system, which is a work of art in itself, tilts the door with the bottom ¾ cantilevered out over the deck.
