Foxtower

The Fox Tower Residence is located on Bear Mountain in the City of Big Bear Lake, CA. The 2-acre property presents a rare opportunity given its rich history of fox breeding, best represented by an existing fox tower constructed circa 1926. Tasked with designing a 'modern mountain retreat', our challenge was to preserve the form, material, and viewing function of the tower while constructing a new structure that would connect physically and emotionally. Architecturally, the iconic Fox Tower is featured as a central design element with modern touches that suggest more modern improvements that have occurred over time.
