Bayadere III

This single family home is located in Corona Del Mar on a 30,000 s.f. lot. This oversized lot with its obscure shape provided us with a unique design challenge that is not typically seen in southern California neighborhoods. One of our biggest challenges during the design process was to properly manage the long circulation path that stretched from the street front all the way back to the rear of the property where the expansive ocean views can be experienced. At the rear of the property, with the Pacific Ocean as backdrop, we strategically positioned all of the main living spaces. Formally, we chose to separate the architecture into three distinct masses based their program, while simultaneously introducing a central lower courtyard that daylights to the rear terrace.
