VFF Coffee

Culver City, CA

With consideration of the project budget, we worked carefully to minimize the amount of total building square footage. This also allowed us to upgrade certain design features such as:

Vertical folding doors - allows the coffee shop to be completely opened to the exterior while providing shade as an exterior awning over the adjacent seating areas.

Open steel trellis - the trellis shapes the outdoor patio space while still allowing for the growth of the featured specimen tree. The trellis integrates with the building structure to support the large openings emphasizing the indoor/outdoor nature of the coffee shop.

The small building with attached trellis embraces the mid-century architecture of the adjacent church building.

The open patio between the two structures creates relief for the church building so that the new improvement does not take away from the significance of the chapel.
