Abu Dhabi

The Goal: To bring our Southern California design ethos to the Middle East while designing homes that embrace the cultural and environmental context. As part of a larger development, we designed 11 villas in a high-end luxury community located in Abu Dhabi.

The Details: The collection comprises 11 villas and custom homes, ranging in size from 5,000 to 30,000 square feet, with architectural expressions that span Transitional Mediterranean to Coastal Modern styles. These are family homes that embrace Arabic culture while redefining the separation between public and private spaces, creating flexible living arrangements that can be open or separated depending on the social setting. The homes were designed with passive shade, water features, and special attention to the thermal envelope to address the extreme heat of this desert environment. Each property features ocean views, complemented by resort-style amenities.

The Materials: The materials are consistent but applied specifically to the unique style of each villa design, including smooth-coat stucco, natural stone and brick veneer, Spanish clay tile roofing, composite wood siding and accents, and ACM metal paneling.
