Heliotrope VIII

Corona Del Mar, CA

Located in Corona Del Mar's Flower Streets, this home perfectly characterizes the California Modern style, with light wood features both inside the home and out matching the coastal atmosphere, along with bold metal accents and large sliding glass doors that open the house up for comfortable indoor/outdoor living. Inside, an open floor plan concept connects the kitchen to the dining and family rooms, while an interior side courtyard, similarly outfitted with pocketing glass doors, allows for a more private connection with the outdoors away from the streets on both ends of the home. The same level of privacy is found in the master suite above the main room without compromising the connection to sunlight through a recessed channel for blinds in the ceiling which, when not in use, are hidden by the white stucco half-frame on the exterior.

A double height space just beyond the entryway open the dining area to increased natural lighting

Light wood and marble features blend with traditional materials for a comfortably-modern feel

The interior side courtyard not only opens the home to a greater access to the outside, but also divides the home between the open floor plan rooms to the front of the house and the more private bedrooms to the rear, sheltering the latter from the street which often sees heavy foot traffic, especially during the summertime.

On top of the home, this project celebrates its unique lot and proximity to Big Corona Beach with an extensive roof deck, which features both outdoor living areas and a covered lounge, perfect for enjoying beautiful sunsets and warm summer days.
