Shoreline II

Dana Point, CA

The proposed design for this home seeks to capture and frame the ocean views from as many interior spaces as possible. In order to maximize such views, we are proposing to elevate the main level by two feet from the existing pad. In addition, the rear elevation will provide ample glazing with large operable doors and high clerestory windows.

The residence will be of a ‘modern style’ composed with a balance of materials that aesthetically complement each other to accentuate the massing and bring balance to the architecture. The materials proposed are natural wood cedar siding, natural stone, light stucco, exposed steel structural members with T&G soffits and metal wall cladding. Some of the metal panels will be perforated and span over portions of the windows to provide privacy while still filtering light in. A green roof is proposed over the front garage which brings down the scale at the street while providing a soft attractive green space that will integrate into the surrounding landscape.
